And the tackiest billboard award goes to....

....PETA.

PETA has done some pretty awful ad campaigns in the past (the rejected Superbowl ad comes to mind, as does their UK ad that equates feeding kids meat with child abuse, and the Holocaust on Your Plate campaign), but this is pretty freaking low.

According to the Wichita Globe, PETA is using Dr. Tiller's shooting to get people to go vegetarian.

They've decided to run 2 new billboard in the Wichita area:

and

Wow. Barely 24 hours since the news of Dr. Tiller's murder, PETA has already found a way to use it to turd things up. Ridiculous.

I know more people that have been driven from the animal rights cause by PETA than have been persuaded by it. And they make it difficult for people who believe in more humane treatment of animals to make headway because the cause seems so whacky. They must have some vegan sugardaddy out there paying their bills; I can't imagine they're able to get that much support from the public.

Even within the animal rights orgs PETA is knows as "the crazies." It's too bad as they drive away a lot of support. Animal protection is a great cause but not everyone is going to be a veg and PETA just gives the whole movement a bad name....as you can see by this crazy ad.

You almost have to laugh at PETA… Almost

A few years ago, in either Illinois or Wisconsin, one of the PETA chapters thought it would be a good idea to “Protect” the local deer population. The idea was to put blaze orange hunting vests on the deer. They did this with several hundred deer.
Now anyone that knows much about deer knows that they are masters of blending into their natural environment.
And blaze orange is worn to help a hunter stand out in the wilderness, so he is not mistaken for an animal.
The story I read basically stated that none of the vest wearing deer survived that hunting season.

Sorry CF, that was actually a hoax. Read about it here. Even Brit Hume said it...so it must be true.

Unfortunately, hoaxes like that are so believable because PETA is so ridiculous.
