BREAKING: PALIN STEPPING DOWN

Sarah Palin just announced that she's stepping down as gov as of July 26, and won't be running for re-election.

MSNBC has the video here:

I'm not completely shocked she's not running for re-election (it's the same move Minnesota gov. Tim Pawlenty made, as he's also looking to run for president in 2012), but resigning??

I think stepping down is just bizarre. Quitting early isn't a factor I think most people look for in a president. I think she's actually *not* looking at the national stage.

Can't wait to watch this develop. Isn't the circus fun?!

Update: The full statement is on the soon-to-be-former governor's website. Enjoy.

Maybe she's planning on seeking work as a community organizer--you know, less "actual responsibility" and all....
