The Big Snip

We've had some interesting discussions at DW on circumcision before, so when I saw this on MSNBC today, I thought it post-worthy. Enjoy.

Genital mutilation? Really? I had no idea circumcision had become such a controversial topic in the bio-ethics circles.

I was always under the impression that the health benefits, regardless of how minor they are, made the practice a no-brainer. (BTW, preventing possible penis cancer rates high on my priority list as a male.) In regards to the 'needless pain' these parents worry about inflicting, I'd love for them to take a poll of circumcised adults who remember even an inkling of what it felt like. It smacks of over-protectionism on a biological level.

I am really interested in why the %s have changed so dramatically in just a few decades. Thanks Angie for bringing up this article.

I've read so many articles on this and gone back and forth so many times. The two sides just keep coming out even. In the end, we probably wouldn't just because it seems better to do nothing than pro-actively do something and have it go wrong. If I was in a part of the world with a high rate of AIDS transmission, though, I would definitely do it.
